GG’s Top Eleven Most Anticipated Games for 2017

Better late than never……Is what this gaming blog, said when it came to it’s most anticipated and game of year for 2017 articles!  So with that elephant out of the room, Let’s see what awaits us in 2017.

Honorable Mentions

Crash n Sane Trilogy

I am huge fan of crash but it is a remaster of an old trilogy of games and it’s hard for me to rate that very high on a list that is suppose to be about what's  new and exciting! Even with that, I'm super stoked about the Crash coming back! Let's just hope we get CTR next!
 Outlast 2

I haven’t finished the first one (mostly because I only play when me and my friends are getting riggity riggity wrecked and crapping our pants) but I really do enjoy it. I think it would be higher if I had the courage to play it by myself.

Cup head

Indie darling that broke onto the list last year. I really am excited for Cuphead and I will probably be one of the few games I buy day one on this list. My only problem is that I think the game and me are suffering from delay fatigue.

2015:  William get’s really excited for Cuphead : Cuphead doesn’t come out
2016: William get’s really excited for Cuphead: Cuphead doesn’t come out
2017: William get’s really excited for Cuphead: ???

Don’t get me wrong, I understand they are doing a hugely time consuming art style is I think maybe the most unique in whole gaming industry in last decade but excitement dies over time at least for me. I want be a sentient mouse with a cup as a head but I hope it happens sooner than later.

 Rick and Morty VR
Rick and Morty was arguable one my favorite shows of last year and I watched breaking bad from beginning to end, anyway that is a huge accomplishment.  I do own a HTC Vive but a lot of the “games” are over glorified tech demos. Now when I heard of a VR game based on R&M was coming out well that got me  bubbling with the potential they could do with the property, like seriously muti-dimestions, Mini verse and Time Travel? I hope it comes out sooner than seasons 3 because who knows when we will get that.

 Resident Evil 7

This game gives me conflicting feelings and yes it already came out and has good reviews so it should be a good game but..... I think this is the right way for the franchise way to go but for me it's not. I have played RE 4,5,6 and now we have 7. I think it should've been reboot and I know it connects to the rest of RE universe but  it is such a Colossal shift for the franchise compared to even the last game RE 6 that was terrible but 4 was quite possibly the best RE game and RE 5 was fun romp. I get if this game is on your top ten but for me, I just can't do it. It's kind of turned into Outlast on setroids what's fine and I will probably  play it with my friends (when ever we finish outlast) but it's not going to be a"true Resident Evil to me".

Hum
I haven't seen a lot about this game but it's enough to get it on the Honorable Mentions part of this list. The game for sure has atmosphere and a very intense setting. I grew up in rural America, So i can definitely relate check out the trailer here  Spooky Scary Skeletons!

Top 11 Most Anticipated Games

11. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017)

The Game that could be great or that could very mediocre. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is hopefully going to be what Titanfall 2 was for the original Titanfall. Imagine a fully fleshed out campaign in the Star Wars universe. I would love if maybe they could do a story campaign based on the ground troops of Rouge One. I am just saying there is a lot of opportunity here.  Now with that being said, were talking about EA here but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one ( don't make me regret it)
10. Kingdom Come Deliverance
I have had my eye on this game for quite some time. I not much of an RPG guy but the idea of running around in a grounded in reality version of Medieval Europe is way to awesome to pass off. This game's big selling point other than the one above is the game features  large scale battles and that is something that I treasure and I wish were in more on the ground games such as this one. I also like the idea of me playing as evil person and trying to raise an army and take over the kingdom but we will have to wait and see.

9. State of Decay 2

I really got into the first one. Me and my man Marcus got through some heavy stuff together. State of Decay 2  hasn’t released to many trailers but the writing in between lines I think is the important part. I don’t know if there expanding  the scale or what have yeah but if they definitely have Co-op and hey there might be a Day-Z like multiplayer component. We simply don’t know and that is the cool part. Hopefully there is more base building, relationships nuances in this one. I don’t know about you but I’m ready to knock a few heads in.

8. Crackdown 3

I've been waiting for this game ever since I beat Crackdown one and barely started Crackdown 2. I have never played a game like Crackdown One. It really did gave you freedom. For those who haven't played imagine Farcry 3/4 outposts is the whole game and each one   has a boss fight. All you have to do is wipe them all out. It's a game where you are truly are off the leash. You character also levels up through orbs and combat. You go from B cop to Robo cop in no time. Cars also transform into ludicrous  versions of what they used to be. If you can't all I want is a new Crackdown and everything, I have seen of the new one indicates it is doing a right interpretation of the franchise.

7.Yoo-Kaylalle
Where Crash was the past, Yoo-Kalle is the future. This game has looked awesome ever since it was unveiled on Kickstarter. It's bright colors, it's full cast of characters and awesome to be platforming makes it look like a classic in the making. I just love everything that's going with this game and can't wait to play it this year.

6. Ni-Oh
I kind of Stumbled upon Ni-Oh during my refresher of some You Tube trailers for the other games on this list. Then all of sudden, I saw this super bad ass game play on an ad and a couple minutes later, I was redoing this list. It was suppose to be the Top Ten but Ni-Oh cut that in half. What is Ni-Oh, I can't really tell yeah looks like an open world samurai mythical game where you cut some stuff up. Anyway it looks sweet and it comes out next month. Check it out, it  might be the hidden gem of the year.

5.Horizon Zero Dawn
PlayStation's Zelda? This is what I keep thinking to myself. The more I see this game the more questions I have. What time period is it what's up with the old nomadic people  living with the Dino bots. Hopefully these questions can be answered. It's good for games to have questions like this. A lot of time, We can usual figure what the game is all about before the game even comes out. In this case, I think we have only been given a small glimpse into a beautifully complex world that I can't wait to explore.

 4.  Zelda Breath of the Wild
What can I say what hasn't already said about Zelda Breath of the Wild. Well it's the only one of two of  games from last year's most anticipated Top  5 games that still manged to stay in the top 5. That I think says a lot by itself. Where other games on that list such as Homefront came out and sucked or Crackdown that dropped 7 spots. I have watched over an hour of gameplay really check it out the amount of game play video released for this game is ridiculous. I think Zelda has that element what makes it bigger adventure than a game should be.  In games such Zelda, Halo and others I feel like, I'm actually saving the world in the most corny way. Where a lot games fall flat and are just games are scale and the epicness of the tale their tell and even after 30 years Zelda still continues to surprise us and I also plan for Zelda Breath of the Wild to be the swan song for my Wii U.

3. Halo Wars 2
I think Halo Wars:1 was a  sadistic pleasure of mine and if wasn't for the remaster of the first one you get if you pre-order the ultimate edition (that has reminded of how great Halo Wars is especially now because it's on PC!), I don't know if HW2 would be this high on the list. I am currently just bouncing from to skirmish to skirmish but every game is a Army build up simulator but in the Halo Universe. There in no other game where you control an army of Spartans, Odst and warthogs at the same time. It's thrilling especially when you have a  back in forth with the covenant or my favorite thing to do is make the Unsc vs the Unsc. It's really cool to see Spartans duking it out. I also just like making story lines in my ahead about why each faction is fighting one another. Also the story of Halo Wars, have been interesting in the past, I think especially impart from them not being a Chief story line. Anyway February 21st can't happen soon enough because I'm ready to raise some armies.
2. Sea of Thieves
Yardy te mates, Yea ready to set sail on the ocean in hunt for treasury and become a legend! I think everyone has been waiting their whole life to be a swashbuckling pirate. Now we can be in Rare's new pirate MMO. I think since AC4 Black Flag the gaming industry realized how big of a hole there was in modern pirate games and hopefully Sea of Thieves can fill that hole. I'm not a huge MMO guy, I have never even really played one aside from dabbling in H1Z1 or DayZ when it was a mod but I think Sea will be different. I think the sense of adventure and working as a team to complete a common goal like killing a giant monster or sinking an opposing teams boat is gonna keep me invested for hours.
1. Red Dead Redemption 2

What can I say. I loved everything about the first one. As someone who catches themselves watching Gunsmoke or the rifleman with their dad about every weekend. I can easily say that Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be one hell of a ride. The characters, The world and gameplay culminated in something truly special. RDR showed that western can be in video games and even excel farther than there modern counterparts. I am amped to get back on the saddle. I hope to kill few a zombies because if  Undead Nightmare 2 was confirmed than RDR 2 might have a buddy for the second spot on this list.

Battlefield One:  I really enjoyed Battlefied One's beta and played the mutiplayer for about twenty hours, definally going to be a game I'm going to go back to at some point.

6. Gears of War 4 (12 Votes)
What do I know/ How do I feel:  I didn't get to play gears 4  in 2016 but My future roommate and I fully intend on playing all of the Halos and Gears games in Co-op so this being the finale of that, would be awesome!

5. Titanfall 2 (15 Votes)

What do I know/ How do I feel: I played a ton of the original Titanfall when it fell into battle in 2014 but this time I didn't well...Battlefield One, Mid Terms, Call of Duty. I don't blame the game, I blame EA. I did pick it up on a Xbox sale, so maybe this next semester I'll check it out but with 18 credit hours that might be a dream.

4. Forza Horizon 3 (19 Votes)
What do I know/ How do I feel:  I get to drive my car in real life (pictured above) , I REALLY like Forza Horzion 3. It fully deserves to be on this list it is a phenomenal game and easily the best racing game of the year. I have been a big fan of the mainline Forza series for years but now I'm a bigger Forza Horizon fan.

3. Doom (20 Votes)
What do I know/ How do I feel: DOOM is the Wolfenstein of 2016. It kind of whacked everyone from behind with a shovel. I originally played on Xbox One but it didn't feel right and then I picked it up on Steam and have been having a blast of a time and really enjoying myself. I can definitely see why people love doom!

2. Overwatch  (26 Votes)

What do I know/ How do I feel:  I didn't play it. #Harambe Well anyway back in the early sixteens and even now it's hard for me to justify a sixty dollar game that is only multiplayer. I would be more fine with that but I'm not much of multiplayer guy other than CSGO, Titanfall. My Xbox share buddy picked it up, so who knows. I will give a whirl sometime.

1. Uncharted 4 (59 Votes)

What do I know/ How do I feel:  So I got a PS4 a couple of months ago but it's been at my dad's house while I have been at college. So I haven't really been able to take a crack at it.  I do have all of the Uncharteds for it but I just haven't had the time but everything I have seen on the game looks amazing and at some point. I'm going to have to go into these uncharted waters of Nathan Drake's game franchise. I have started the New Ratchet and Clank though.......!

Did the game you vote for make the top of the list or the bottom? If you want more similar content like us on Facebook!

Why do we play games?... Because they’re Awesome! Well that’s a wrap but, I guess that’s too short...

This question could probably get its own book. Some people play games for the god complex, how rewarding they are on their sheer competitiveness and not even impossible for some these to either overlap or not even apply to certain people. I Think you could argue there is a negative connotation with this question. No one asks why we read books, watch movies and listen to music but, at the same time you could just ask that about anything. I think I play games for three reasons.

One: I think to get my mind off stressful events in my life. I have a lot of these stress events whether it’s every day craziness or something severe like my mother passing. Videogames have always been the solid pillar I could depend on. If you fail a test or have a bad week a videogame won’t judge you, it will subconsciously get your mind off of it. There is a story of a Saints Row 2 developer who received a letter from a fan saying he was going to commit suicide but after playing Saints Rows 2, it got him through that dark valley in his life and really turned his life around. I think that art has deeper impact implications on their fans than whether creators even realize it  and that is why I find that videogames don’t get enough credit in this regard. Sometimes in life people need to feel like the hero in their story and just not another average person in their real life. Danny O’Dwyer (The Best Video Game Journalist) has an internet show called The Point (The show delves super deep in game culture and what games have meant to him and dare I say the world) and there is episode called “Gaming Through Your Stress”. I re-watched this episode for this paper and my eyes got watery that didn’t happen the first time. I think that’s because I originally watched it before my mom past and now this message of having games getting though a tough time applies to me, in a much more meaningful way than I could ever had imagined.

Games aren’t just for kids, games have grown with the kids from the 80s and now as those kids are adults so are videogames their stories are getting so much more complex and in-depth. The average gamer is 31, no they don’t live in their parent’s basement. This gets to my second reason, that games are another world to get immersed into. There are times that I can lose hours to game, without even knowing it. I got the game batman Arkham Asylum for Christmas in 2011. I literally played it for 12 straight hours. I really did feel like I was Batman and I just have never been that invested into a movie or book, like I was in Batman Arkham Asylum.

Games can take you to another culture. I plan on studying abroad in Italy and I think a lot of that has to do with games such as Ryse: Son of Rome; where I was Marius, a leader of a roman legion and we went to Rome back in its glory days and the game was and still pushed the tech back in 2013 and it’s was fantastical recreation of Rome. Another series that I think sparked me interested in Italy was Assassins creed. In that franchise you would play Ezio Auitore you guessed it an assassin in Renaissance Italy and they brought to life Leonardo Davin Chi or Machiavelli. As someone from Rural America this is a true portal to another culture or even another world.

There are games like the Wolf Among Us that succeed this level of immersion in different ways such as storytelling and choices you make. In WAU you play Bigby wolf and he is wolf in the old stories (Little Red Riding Hood, The three little Piggy’s) and you now the sheriff of the refuge fables (all of the characters of the old stories) in New York. The Story is fascinating whether it be the stereotypes facing the wolf after his troubled past or even the redemption story that the games story arch takes. Marty Silva of IGN does one of the best video reviews of WAU and perfectly explains how the game can either send you a rush from fighting Fable towns worst baddies or make you ponder some of the choices you made that might not have been the best. WAU has choices in at set times and these choices affect the rest of game and it’s unique in the fact that this game is episode based and that makes it so if you buy at release, that you won’t see your choices for weeks or even months.  I think All of these games are great and there so many more that I could go into but, again I still got more paper to write.

Rewarding and Variety these again I feel are games strongest attribute.  There are games such as Sim-City that have the stories of people being played out to as a book but the interactivity of a videogame. There are games like Kerbal Space Program where you try to launch little green men in rockets to the moon. There are games that are some of my favorites that would make you think I’m a crazy person such Hotline Miami that is in my top ten favorite games. It’s where you are a serial killer in the 1980s and you where animal masks that give you superpowers and high octane music plays in the background and slaguter dozens of civilians. The game is bloody brilliant, also a great example of music, art, and gameplay coming together for an amazing combination. There is a game currently on steam where all you do is watch a floating mountain and you watch the wildlife live and die and the seasons change. It’s only dollar but, again I think it highlights the sheer amount of variety in games.  The other point I wanted to make is the reward you get in playing them.

There is a game that is called X-Com Enemy Unknown and it’s the greatest game of chess ever made, is the only way I can describe it. I have been addicted to it for the past two weeks. It’s not your typical shooter. A game where you are the commander and put in charge of defending Earth in its darkest hour and you and only you can stop this alien force. You have so many levels to this game but, you have to manage your bases resources. What to research next and the on the battlefield you control your troops that are highly customizable and you probably named them after your family members so you probably don’t want them to die.  This game is hard too. I have a total of over 80+ hours on both Xbox, PC and I still haven’t successfully beaten it. I’m very close to the end and after all of my hours of killing aliens and tactical failures hopefully we can finally overthrow these damn greys! I think this game especially appealing for a lot of reasons. I love the customization of it and how it really makes you think about your strategic choices you make. The countries funding X-Com project can also pull out and cause you to lose funding and that means you can eventually start to lose countries and you have to start making tough choices on which countries to help and in some instances weigh the risk losing a country. X-Com has something I like to call good stress where instead of being stressed about your usual life you are now stressed by X-Com aliens coming to your base and wrecking your hours of work. It’s good to have this good stress replace get your mind of your bad stress. This is similar to Danny O’Dwyer doing is videogame tasks instead of his real life ones.

Did I answer the question? I don’t think so, I don’t think it’s question that can be answered by one person or even several sources. I think I will keep playing videogames and I’ll keep writing about them, have a nice week Don.

The Xbox Scropio is a MONSTER

Put price and weird Microsoft polices aside. The fact that the frame rate for all games are going to be the same on Xbox One and now Scorpio. I think the real thing to take out of this is just the grand power of these machines. How do you tell, Belly flops? nope Teraflops!

Here is a chart comparing my PC named thor vs neo (rumored) vs ps4 VS NEO vs current Xbox one

my PC has 3.2 Teraflops (GTX 770)

Thor can play games at  4k. Battlefield 4 on medium and Max Payne 3 on Ultra just fine. So your going to have a console with almost twice the power and is going to have a lot more optimization. When I see people complaining that it won't be able do Native 4k or this isn't a real upgrade you're high.  This new Xbox is a best and best than most PCS. I have another PC with two GTX 980TIS, I call it Thanos but I could not get an Accurate Teraflop number for an SLI configuration but one 980TI has 5.83 Teraflops now the 980TI is one of the best cards out there and the New Xbox still beats it. Face facts Xbox One Scorpio is a monster of a Console.
