Why Battlefield is Better than Call of Duty

One of my biggest problems with Call of Duty after I get to the top level online like 80.  I’m sort of burnt out on playing online. I do have fun with Brennen and Brent playing all kinds of game modes like search and destroy (what it comes down to is best of 5 rounds and when you die then you have to wait respawn) and hardpoint (is search and destroy with respawning and a moving capture points).

Call of Duty is the best money making annualized franchise out there right now. Since 2009 they have made a billion dollars on each one of their games. Call of duty is by far the most popular franchise for the past couple of years.

Call of Duty: it’s hard to innovate when one of your games comes out ever year but Activision who owns rights to Call of Duty made another studio named Tre-Arch start producing every other year.  I watched the Call of Duty ghost trailer (release date of Call of Duty Ghosts November 5^th 2013   ) it really didn’t impress me I own every major Call of Duty release except the original (2003). Now the three big things that got people buzzing is that you can play as a chick (what I think the twelve year olds will take the wrong way) dogs that have been in previous games, and destroyable things that are really cheesy like hitting a bus with a rocket launcher and knocking  it down a hill. Now compared with his cousin Battlefield you can knock down a complete skyscraper. The last complaint or “impressive” thing in the trailer is the Eminem song which plays in the back ground, don’t get me wrong it’s awesome but I still think it’s dumb due to the fact that I think it distracts from focusing what the game itself is doing. I pre-ordered Xbox-One and Battlefield 4. I will be able to play with 64 players online, which is going to be insane . Frostbite 3 engine graphics are going to be truly next gen(generation of consoles) . Now with 64 players,  impressive graphics, the fact that almost everything is destructible, with drivable vehicles its hard arguing that Call of Duty is better. I will say that the single player in the Call of Duties have been a lot better than battlefield 3.

Battlefield has it fair share of problems the co-op campaign was meh (ok) because of no spilt screen and no private match that’s essential for the one-v-one situations in first person shooters. The story in the single player was average wasn’t anything special I did enjoy some of the set piece moments that look awesome.

I will still buy Call of Duty Ghosts but with Battlefield 4 and Destiny, Titanfall on the horizon they better watch out for their dominance on first person shooter market.                            

Wii U Review: Should you buy one

The Wii U came out in 2012 and has sold approximately 8 million consoles and there is 300 hundred million people in the U.S. So a lot of people haven't made up their minds yet. Since is early in the console generation, people are hesitant on where they should by a Wii U. This Review is to help, you make up your mind whether is this a good fit for you.

Games

The exclusives are by far the best feature about the Wii U console. There is no other console manufacturer that can say they have a 30 year old franchise. They also have the greatest quality control for their exclusives, Its very rare for Nintendo to release a broken game. Its Ironic that where they strive they also die in. Nintendo has the best exclusives but the worst third party support. Third parties are the guys who make the juggernauts like Call of Duty , Grand Theft Auto and Battlefield. What will most likely not see the light of day on the Wii U.

User Interface

The user interface is the most important feature of the console. The Wii U layout is similar to Xbox One Tile System. In the fact that you launch the system and pin what seems like a infinite amount of stuff. The  cool part is that they added the Quick start menu what tries to cut flub and waiting time in between you and your game. The Wii U Gamepad is immensely useful to the experience whether its to use touch pad for the Eshop mini game or using to complete a task what would take a bit longer with the traditional controller.

HARDWARE

Now the Wii U is the first HD Nintendo console that makes the huge leap from those wretched

AV Cables.  The Game Pad is the star of console in my book. Its make the Wii U a mobile home console.  What I mean by that is I can play Wii U in my Kitchen even though the Wii U is upstairs. There is virtually no lag. That is one of the most innovative features I have seen since I was able to launch games through Xbox 360 Guide. The Wii U is underpowered to it competitors specs wise but if you didn't tell me that, then I would think the Wii U would be on par with Xbox one and PS4. I have not played in mutiplats by any means, but Mario Kart 8 is a testament to what you can do with a  "underpowered" Console.

Conclusion 

Should you buy a Wii U? Yes, but buy it as a secondary platform. Its great for Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Zelda but it doesn't get enough games to keep you entertained all year. 

Pixel Counting

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 came out in 2013, and there has been a huge debate over resolution and frame rates ever since. Does it even matter? I think it doesn't matter as long as the next generation has improved visuals over the last. I own an Xbox One and a gaming PC, so I feel I have a unique view of the situation. I remember in early November, everyone on the internet was giving Xbox a hard time, but I had already had pre-ordered it in August. I had enough faith in the Xbox brand to keep it. I got my Xbox One, gleefully hooked it up with Battlefield 4, and I was speechless. It was only 720p, but it looked much better than anything on the Xbox 360. Then later on I went to my local Gamestop, and they told me basically they had the same experience. Honestly, as gamers, shouldn't we be happy with new consoles as long as there is substantial improvement? I certainly am enjoying the Xbox One, and I hope you're enjoying your console of choice. But more importantly, I hope that everyone is enjoying the next generation of consoles, regardless of its pixel counts.

My Xbox One Impressions

                     

The Xbox one is very interesting. The Xbox one runs on windows kernel what’s a modified version of windows 8 metro screen. The interface is annoying and customizable at the same time. It hard to figure out where you are after you have opened a couple of applications. It also a note that almost everything is application now. Even my achievements it’s sort of stupid but does have benefits like an overall percentage on each game. Then on side note you cannot check Xbox one achievements on Xbox.com or smart glass, even though your support to be able to at least on smart glass,.

          So after that rant let’s talk about everyone favorite part is the installs. The Xbox one and PS4 require you to install games. This takes forever me guestimate about 3 to 4 hours. Now this might’ve helped battlefield 4 wow me. I finally got in game and played the campaign and it was easily the best looking game I have ever seen. The cinematic and gameplay are awesome in every aspect. It didn’t matter how many video you watch you will never comprehend it until you see it on a 1080p TV. It really shows how games are getting to the point where realism and gameplay are starting to merge together.

The Xbox one is a mixed bag at current moment. The games themselves look awesome but the insane downloads of the disk and odd interface decisions are holding it back. I think you can buy Xbox but just remember the Xbox will evolve over time.
